January 27, 2026, New York: The 2026 ECOSOC Partnership Forum has taken place today at the UN Headquarters in New York, under the theme “Transformative, equitable, innovative and coordinated actions for the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs for a sustainable future for all”.
The Forum emphasized 5 Sustainable Development Goals, namely Goal 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation, Goal 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy, Goal 9 – Industry Innovation and Infrastructure, Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, and Goal 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, which will be under in-depth review at the 2026 high-level political forum. T’ECH DP has substantive linkages to Goal 6, Goal 11, and Goal 17.
Particularly the Panel on SDG 17 “Three Voices, One Partnership Journey: Demonstrating the Power of Shared Solutions” spotlighted three exemplary partnerships on diaspora finance, water-scarce agriculture, as well as micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), each demonstrating tangible progress for sustainable development. FAO chief economist Dr. Maximo Torero shared his experiences and insights on overcoming water-scarce challenges in agriculture. H.E. Mr. Lok Bahadur Thapa, President of ECOSOC moderated the plenary sessions.
